Why you should avoid One Pass Select

One Pass Select has been a huge disappointment for me. I thought it would help me save money on my Anytime Fitness membership, but it turned into a nightmare.

Here’s what happened:

  • I paid $36 for the first month and a $36 enrollment fee on February 27, and it wasn’t prorated.
  • I was charged $36 again in March.
  • My Anytime Fitness gym said they no longer accepted One Pass memberships because they ended their partnership last year.
  • When I tried to cancel in mid-March, I found out there’s a 30-day cancellation policy. This meant I was charged again for April.

Altogether, I lost $158 on a membership I couldn’t use. I ended up going back to Anytime Fitness. One Pass Select’s customer service was terrible—it took two months for them to tell me there was nothing they could do. I would never recommend this program to anyone.

If you’re dealing with this kind of issue, make sure to double-check the terms of your membership and cancellation policy. If you’re stuck, reach out to your bank or credit card company to see if you can dispute the charges.

The terms and conditions do mention the lack of prorating and the 30-day cancellation policy. It’s unfortunate Anytime Fitness dropped the program, but you might have been able to use those two months at another gym nearby.

You’re right, that’s what customer service told me too. I was just frustrated because I tried to save money and ended up losing more.

If you’re still within the timeframe, try disputing it with your bank or credit card company. I’ve heard of others successfully getting refunds this way when companies refused to help.

This seems like bad timing rather than a total failure of One Pass Select. Were there no other gyms in your area that accepted the membership?

But isn’t keeping the gym list up to date part of their responsibility? If not, it feels like false advertising.

I’ve saved a lot of money using One Pass Select. It’s worked well for me with the Elite membership option. I guess it depends on doing research beforehand. Sorry it didn’t work out for you.

Is Lifetime Fitness still listed as part of the program, or is that outdated too?

I wouldn’t trust their online list. That’s where I went wrong. Always check with the gym directly to confirm.

@Delaney
If I lose my health insurance, does my One Pass membership end too?

As long as you enrolled while you had insurance, your membership should remain active even if your insurance ends. Just keep paying the fees.

I’ve been using One Pass, and my Anytime Fitness still accepts it.

My Anytime Fitness dropped out of the program, and their site doesn’t update the gym list quickly enough. That’s what caused all this trouble.

@Delaney
That’s odd. I signed up at Anytime just two months ago, and they still take it.
