It’s really tough to find an in-network therapist who has availability outside of regular business hours. I recently learned that just because a therapist accepts your insurance, it doesn’t mean they’re in-network.
I wish there was a simple way to find therapists who are in-network and available for evening or weekend appointments. It’d be great if I could look up a website and see only providers in my network and just ask, ‘Who’s free on Saturdays?’ Instead, I have to go name by name, which is frustrating.
Am I missing something that could make this process easier?
Most insurance websites should list which doctors or therapists are in-network for your plan. They usually provide details by specialty. Have you considered telehealth? I’ve been doing virtual therapy sessions, and it’s been really convenient.

I’m all for telehealth sessions. My issue is that my insurance only gives me names of individual therapists, not a list of companies where I can find multiple in-network options. If I could go to one group and know they’re all in-network, it’d save so much time.

You might want to check out online mental health platforms. Many of them have therapists who do telehealth and can be more flexible with scheduling.
I haven’t heard of those. Are you referring to specific apps or services?
@safetyle
Yeah, platforms like those that specialize in online therapy. Some insurance plans also have telehealth options, so it’s worth checking if your plan covers those services.

Thanks. I’ll look into that. I just wish it wasn’t so complicated to find therapists who meet both the in-network and scheduling criteria.
You’re not missing anything. It’s just that therapists who accept insurance and offer after-hours appointments are rare. These time slots are the most popular and get booked quickly. When you contact a therapist, I’d recommend stating your insurance and scheduling needs right away. It saves time for everyone.
