I’m signing up for my new employer’s benefits, and they use Guardian as their vision care provider. I’ve never used them for vision insurance before and I’ve never heard of them. Their website says they use the VSP network. VSP is also a vision insurance company. What’s the connection between Guardian and VSP?
Guardian offers vision insurance, but it sounds like they might partner with other vision networks. Their website says they use VSP, which is a bigger vision insurance company.
I remember when I was signing up for benefits at my last job, and they threw out all these names like Guardian and VSP, and I was like, “What’s the deal?” But here’s the scoop: Guardian and VSP are kind of like partners in the vision care game. Think of it like this: Guardian is your main insurance provider, like the big boss, and VSP is sort of like their right-hand helper.
Like my wife would put it, Guardian vision insurance is literally the go to place for eye exams, eyeglasses, or contact lenses,
If by this you mean Guardian Life, then they have a subcontract with VSP for vision care. In other words, VSP will handle your policy, but Guardian may “white label” your documents, website, and other online presence to refer to Guardian.
I’m facing a similar issue. I had a crown fitted last year. Guardian asked my dentist to submit photos and X-rays to prove I needed the crown, which they did. Now, Guardian says the tooth could have been fixed with a simple filling. But the tooth was full of fillings and about to fall apart! The X-rays show this, and the photos show cracks all over the surface. Guardian still says no. Now, I have to pay another $900!
That’s what I was thinking. Thanks for confirming. I need to know what amount to ask for. What is my value? I write between $15k and $30k a month in personal lines. Do you know what typical pay is?
He pays me hourly. I often work through lunch and stay late. He only pays me for 40 hours a week, but I average about 47 hours weekly. He says he budgets for 40 hours and that working through lunch isn’t part of my job, but I get in trouble if I leave with unfinished quotes. I also handle all existing policies, so it’s nearly impossible to finish in an 8-hour day.
My coworker has the same problem. Her children are adults now, and she works close to 55 hours a week for 40 hours of pay. I look bad in comparison. But if I call in sick (which is rare), he pays me for 32 hours.
