My young boy is on Georgia Medicaid; we recently moved to Florida, and the state of Georgia has not assisted me in getting it cancelled. I’ve filled out, been given several numbers, left a lot of messages, and submitted online forms. Nothing is getting done! In Georgia, how do I stop receiving Medicaid? Medicaid isn’t even available for me to apply for in Florida until it’s canceled there. I’m really annoyed as this has been going on for months.

Simply apply in Florida and provide documents of your Georgia cancellation efforts. I’m not sure about that, but in Alaska, applications and cancellations take a full year to process. Upon resolution, your eligibility should be retroactively calculated.
I’d suggest calling Georgia Medicaid directly and keep pressing “0” to get a real person. Explain your situation and ask them to cancel it right away. Also, try sending a certified letter—sometimes that gets them moving. I know it’s annoying, but hang in there,
