Has Anyone Used CareFirst BCBS for Pediatric Dental?

Hey everyone…

I’m curious if anyone has experience using CareFirst BCBS for pediatric dentist visits. I’m planning to take my little one for their first dental checkup and want to make sure everything goes smoothly. We once used a different insurance for medical visits and it was a bit of a hassle, so I’m hoping this will be more straightforward.

Any tips or personal stories would be super helpful

I haven’t used either one, but CareFirst doesn’t get a lot of attention because it’s an area plan, while GEHA and MHBP are national ones.

Since we’ve had this plan for two years, none of our providers have had any trouble accepting it. Of course, though, you would have to cover the deductible. Therefore, it might not be the best option if you have a lot of blood testing or doctor appointments. However, Carefirst has a dedicated HSA portal where they deposit funds and we are able to deposit funds as well. Although the portal functions, I don’t think it’s the most user-friendly. We’ve never been able to take advantage of the dental discount that it seems to have, even after visiting the providers that their representatives recommended to us after looking through their website. There’s a vision discount as well, but I’ve never used it.
