Hey everyone,
I recently landed a new job (yay!) but I currently have Medicaid. What should I do next? Do I need to notify Medicaid, and how do I transition to my new employer’s insurance plan? Any advice on handling this smoothly?
Thanks a lot!

Simply continue receiving Medicaid. Find out from them what requirements they need to fire you by having a conversation with them. You can choose between an ACA plan or your employer’s health insurance (if available) once you find out when they can fire you.
Yes, you are able to continue receiving Medicaid benefits. You don’t disclose an increase in income until you’ve truly earned it. Therefore, you must declare that within 30 days after the end of the month in the event that December is the first month you earn more than the threshold. The earliest that they might end your Medicaid if you notify it in mid-January is 1/31. However, they still have a backlog to deal with, so it won’t happen that quickly. The probability is 2/28.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has allowed some states to increase the number of low-income individuals and families who are eligible for Medicaid. Even if you have access to employer-sponsored health insurance, you might be able to maintain your Medicaid coverage if you are enrolled in it as a result of the expansion program.
