First Pediatrician Visit Not Covered by Insurance—Need Help

Hello…I’m hoping to get some advice regarding my son’s first pediatrician visit. He was born a few months ago, and we spent two days in the hospital where he was seen by several doctors. We were informed that we needed to take him to the pediatrician within 2-3 days, which we did.

Now we’ve received a bill for almost $300 for that first visit. Shouldn’t this be covered by our insurance as a preventative service? We have Cigna, and my benefits state that he’s covered for appointments like birth, 1 month, 2 months, etc.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Any advice on how to resolve it or appeal the charges would be greatly appreciated…Thanks

Sometimes, even with good insurance, stuff slips through the cracks. I had a similar situation, and calling Cigna directly helped me sort it out. They usually can clarify why the charge wasn’t covered and guide you on appealing it. Don’t stress too much; it’s often just a mix-up. Congrats btw…
