Cigna Provider Application

Does anyone have an employer-sponsored Cigna plan? What is your opinion about it? Would a different health insurance provider be a better fit for me? I do not currently have health insurance, but I intend to become a parent soon—next year.

Depending on your location, you might be eligible to apply for ACA (Affordable Care Act) coverage and potentially receive a subsidy, provided that the cost of employer-provided insurance exceeds a certain percentage of your household income. This option may be available only in specific states, depending on local regulations. By doing so, you could qualify for supplements that assist in covering additional medical expenses.

My husband switched jobs last year, and the only insurance his company offers is Cigna. I work in a small medical group and have noticed that Cigna doesn’t cover much for office visits, often leading people to pay more out of pocket with insurance than if they paid out of pocket directly. Last year, we opted for the OAP Buy Up for more coverage, but we found that Cigna wouldn’t cover facility fees for preventative colonoscopies or minor outpatient surgeries.

He’s now up for open enrollment again, and I’m looking for advice. People have been recommending that we get secondary insurance. If we do get secondary insurance, should we keep the OAP Buy-Up plan or switch to the OAP HDHPQ plan?
