Can my wife get hospital indemnity insurance two weeks before a surgery?

Headline covers it. My wife will most likely need a 4 week hospital stay and we don’t have hospital indemnity issuance. If we signed up for a plan now would it help with this surgery or is it considered uncoverable.

Any coverage outside of an ACA compliant plan would consider it pre-existing and wouldn’t cover it.

Thought so. Thank you

Indemnity insurance may have a waiting period before the insurance company starts paying for covered hospitalizations, procedures, or treatments. This means there might be no coverage for a certain number of days after you buy the policy.

Does your health insurance cover the full cost of medical expenses?

Are you looking for insurance that pays $100 per day when someone is in the hospital?

I’m almost certain you can’t get insurance that would cover you immediately or within a few weeks for what seems like an elective procedure. Insurance doesn’t work that way. Everyone would sign up for insurance only when they knew they needed it.

Our health insurance has a $5,000 deductible and a $10,000 out-of-pocket maximum. This surgery will likely make us reach the maximum. We’ll also need to travel for the surgery and probably live in another state for a month.

The $10,000 out-of-pocket max means that the maximum you would have to pay is $10,000. After that, the insurance covers everything.
