Can I stay on my parents health insurance if my job offers health insurance?

My employer may provide insurance, but my dad believes it is unlawful to remain on it. However, I have heard different stories. We all wish we could stay with our family, but we are not sure if it is permitted. Any insight will be appreciated

Individuals under the age of 26 can remain on their parents’ health insurance plan even if they have health insurance available through their employer, have children, are not claimed as a tax dependent, are married, or live outside of their parents’ home.

You can continue on your dad’s plan as long as his business employs more than fifty people. Legally, even if they are qualified through their own work, dependent children can remain on their parents’ health insurance until they turn 26. even if you move out, even if you get married, and even if you earn a million dollars annually. You may be carried as a child dependent by your parent if you are under 26.

This is where the ambiguity arises: if a spouse is qualified for coverage via their own work, companies may impose a surcharge (or block) on them.

Children, however, are fair game. You’re alright.
