Uninsured pregnant woman

:woman_office_worker: Wife is high income earner… see username. We made a mistake and she temporarily doesn’t have health insurance… oops. Also found out we are pregnant today. We won’t qualify for Medicaid and none of the qualifying life events apply.

 Best course of action? I assume pay for prenatal care out of pocket and then hop on my insurance (her employer doesn’t cover her) once open enrollment hits in the fall/winter? Due date is mid March so should have insurance for essentially all of the 3rd trimester.

Her insurance expired when? Since she lost coverage, that typically qualifies as a “qualified event,” and you could be able to add her to your policy. Usually, you have 30 days to complete it.

OBGYNs typically provide a self-pay discount. thirty, seventy, fifty, etc. That is, at least, what my workplace does. $8K covers all visits in addition to delivery. excludes labs and ultrasounds. and we arranged a 70% payment schedule for the $8,000. They’ll pay eight or nine times before they ship. may check to see if the doctor’s office you intend to visit accepts cash payments.
