Submit bill to insurance for emergency treatment

I got dosed with something while at a party out of state, had a seizure and blacked out, when I came to I was in a hospital and they had run a bunch of tests on me. Now I have a bill for 10k and didn’t have my wallet on me when I got transported to the hospital. How do I submit the bill to my insurance provider?

Trying to file your own claim for hospital charges is going to be a monster headache, can you give the billing office your insurance so that they can bill it correctly?

I would start with the billing department at the hospital. Call them and give them your insurance information.

Call the hospital’s billing office and provide your insurance details. While you’re on the phone, ask them for the contact number for the ER physician’s billing office so you can update your information there too. (As a billing office manager for ER physicians, I really appreciate patients who are proactive about getting their insurance info to us!)
