Need some help with my health plan… any advice?

Income: 3,800

State: Ohio

Age: 32

By the way, I’m going to college (thought that might be relevant).

So, I’m currently on CareSource as my primary plan. But I’m really struggling to find a primary doctor or a dentist who takes CareSource. I haven’t had a doctor or a dentist for over a year and a half because none are accepting new patients or don’t accept my insurance. I do have a medical issue where I really need to see a specialist. Plus, I need braces to fix my smile since my teeth are in pretty bad shape. This year has been really tough for me. Honestly, I’m worried I won’t have a doctor at all.

I’m willing to pay a monthly fee and even a deductible if that’ll help me see someone. I’m just feeling lost and unsure about what to do next.

With that income, it looks like you might qualify for Medicaid.

CareSource is actually Ohio’s Medicaid.

You should reach out to CareSource directly and ask for their help in finding an in-network doctor. They can even assist you by calling the provider alongside you if you’ve already tried reaching out.

@Daire
Oh, I didn’t know CareSource had the full managed Medicaid contract!

Just a heads up, getting Medicaid to cover braces for adults is usually really tough.

It’s also tricky to get coverage for children’s braces unless there’s a real medical need, not just cosmetic reasons.
