Hello, I’m a 19-year-old woman and I’m planning to have an abortion after getting pregnant while using Depo. I want to proceed as soon as possible, but my mom says it’s not covered. On the Planned Parenthood website, it mentions that BCBS is in-network for them, not out. I’m not familiar with how insurance works at all… Should I call BCBS? What should I say? Any guidance would be really helpful.
They provided me a very manageable fee, even if your insurance would not cover it. In 2005, it was approximately $300.
Each plan varies, so please call the number on the back of your card to inquire.
Heey @NialShawrie…, I’m here to assist you get through this. It’s critical to confirm coverage information directly with your insurance company. When you call Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), you might ask the following questions:
- Is Planned Parenthood part of my health plan’s network?
- What are my benefits for the specific medical procedure I’m considering?
- Are there any other fees I should be aware of?
Remember to keep your insurance ID card accessible when you contact them, as they will most likely request information from it in order to access your plan details. It’s also a good idea to make notes throughout the call for future reference.
Call member services. Do you have an ID? Does your mom know about it? They will help you with no problem. I understand some people are afraid of their family finding out.
I would doubt that they cover abortion. My guess is abortion is illegal since the Supreme Court overturned the ruling in Roe v Wade.
You should confirm with the State’s laws though. If you are in a state that condemns illegal, then it might be hard to get a recourse
I doubt if they cpver abortion, but this can vary depending on the ifferent state laws on abortion
Yes, BlueCross BlueShield does cover abortions, but there are some important considerations such as Accepted Insurance Plans at Planned Parenthood , Medicaid and Abortion Coverage and Out-of-Pocket Costs
