Is Colorado Medicaid the best health coverage?

Wanted to share my experience here since other forums don’t allow text posts. I signed up for Medicaid last week after being out of work. It was approved within 15 minutes. I needed to get my wisdom teeth taken care of immediately, and Medicaid reduced the cost from $4,300 to $0, including anesthesia. Without Medicaid, I would’ve had to use a credit card, which would’ve left me in major debt. The application took about 30 minutes to complete, and it was worth it. If you’re in Colorado and need medical help, consider applying.

That’s great to hear. I also signed up during a tough time earlier this year. The process was easy, though I didn’t end up needing the coverage. Still, it was a relief knowing it was there if I needed it.

@Farley
I was shocked by how smooth the process was too. I expected partial coverage, maybe 10-15%, but they covered everything, including anesthesia. I felt so relieved seeing that $0 estimate.

Since getting a job, I switched to HealthFirst Colorado. It’s not free, but the coverage is affordable and better than my employer’s plan. Deductibles are lower, and it kicked in much faster. Our monthly premium is also about 33% of what my employer offered.

@Farley
That’s helpful to know. I’m still job hunting but will keep HealthFirst Colorado in mind when comparing benefits later.

@Farley
I’ve been without coverage for 15 years. Where should I start looking for options?

You can start with their official site or call the number listed there for guidance. They’ll walk you through the process.

@Farley
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I’m glad to see our state’s Medicaid program working so well.

Given all the criticism of the healthcare system, I was pleasantly surprised by how well-managed Medicaid in Colorado is. It’s not perfect, but it saved me thousands when I had no other options.

@Kennedy
Have you recovered from the procedure yet? Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Yes, the surgery went well. Thanks for the kind words.

They’re cutting me off Medicaid, and I’m devastated. It really helped me when I needed it.

Same here. I barely make too much to qualify.

My partner makes slightly over the limit, so we’re losing it too.

@Jamie
For me, it’s only about $100 over.

If you’re employed, you could adjust your paycheck withholding to lower your income slightly. It worked for me.

Colorado Medicaid works well, but I’m still disappointed universal healthcare didn’t pass in 2016.

Agreed. It’s frustrating how lobbyists block progress. I hope we see real change in our lifetime.

Without Colorado Medicaid, I would’ve gone blind in both eyes. They covered surgeries I couldn’t afford.
