I have reached my max out of pocket and deductible as a result of having two major gender affirming surgeries. I want to take advantage of the fact that I now have three and a half months with no copay by getting as many services as possible that I would normally not consider due to cost and not being a priority. I have already been going to the dermatologist. Does anyone have ideas of services or specialists that I could take advantage of that might not be at top of mind? I have seen suggestions along the lines of massage therapy. Any other suggestions?
This has been posted a few times and you can search the sub for ideas. As a reminder, these services still have to be considered medically necessary in order for your insurance to cover them.
Definitely behavioral health therapy. Acupuncture. Not all policies cover massage therapy, FYI.
We don’t know your medical history or what your insurance covers, so it’s hard to answer that question. Do you need physical therapy (if it’s covered) or psychotherapy?
Start scheduling your appointments NOW because many people are in the same situation and appointment slots fill up fast toward the end of the year.
Do you have any issues you’ve been putting off?
Consider physical therapy, seeing a dermatologist for any concerning moles, visiting a podiatrist for custom orthotics (if your insurance covers them), checking for any unknown allergies, or getting evaluated for sleep apnea if you snore or suspect you have it.
Make sure everything is medically necessary, of course.
Get 90 day scrips for all of your prescriptions, fill them immediately and then again right before the end of the year. You can go into 2025 with 3 months of meds already paid for.
