So I went to the ER last Thursday and they recommended that I admit on Friday so I can immediately get a biopsy (instead of scheduling and waiting for another 30+ days outside).
I have only gotten 40 out of my 350 deductible. I’m so scared of my hospital bills I have 90% coverege AFTER deductible though.
Healthcare bills are submitted in no specific order. The provider or service that submits to your insurance first gets processed first. Yes, there will be bills, but it’s hard to predict how many or the cost. The inpatient charge might take some time to be submitted to insurance.
You’re misunderstanding how a deductible works. Once you reach your deductible, everything after that is covered. If the bill is $3,000 and you have $310 left to meet your deductible, you pay that $310 first. Then, the remaining amount is $2,690, and you’re responsible for 10% of it, which is $269. So, you pay a total of $579, and this amount also counts towards your yearly out-of-pocket maximum.
Just worry about getting better. Wait for the EOBs to come in. Chances are, you’ll owe $290 + 10% of the first one the plan deals with, then 10% or the rest up to the max. But seriously, don’t worry about it now.
You will pay full til you hit your deductible. Insurance tracks it. Even if the hospital submits way more once the deductible is met then your insurance will pay 90% and you will be responsible for 10% of the remanding charges after your deductible is satisfied.
