How do I reach the billing department for Blue Shield of California?

I’ve been overcharged four times my premium, and every time I call Blue Shield, the rep immediately puts me on hold. After about 30 minutes, they come back and tell me they can’t help. When I ask for the billing department, they say they can’t transfer me.

I have Covered California, but they told me they can’t do anything about Blue Shield overcharging me. I tried searching online for a direct billing number, but the only result is their general customer service line.

Does anyone know how to reach someone in billing who can actually fix this?

Try using their live chat feature on the patient portal. That’s been the fastest way for me to get in touch with someone at Blue Shield.

I once waited on hold for three hours about a claim denial, but when I switched to live chat, I got my answer in minutes.

Ask for the premium department—it’s likely an issue with how your tax credit was applied. This happens a lot.

Thank you! I didn’t even know they had a live chat option.

I know exactly what happened—Covered California adjusted my premium because my income changed, but Blue Shield still charged me the old (higher) amount. This actually happened last month too, but for a different reason. It’s so frustrating that their systems don’t update in sync!
