I recently had a telehealth appointment with my doctor through my insurance. I’ve always paid $30 for my visits, but this time I got a call saying I owe $183.69. I found out my insurance no longer covers telehealth visits as of this year, and I never got any written notice about this change. I filed a complaint but I’m wondering, don’t I deserve to be told if my coverage is different? Can they just change it without telling me? Knowing this, I would have gone in person!
Are the doctor’s office responsible too? Shouldn’t they inform me about these changes? I need some help figuring this out. Thanks a lot

Yes, it is through my job. I’ll definitely reach out. I did file an appeal, though.
Just to clarify, your coverage didn’t change, but your network did. If I understand your post right, your provider is now out-of-network. We’re supposed to check the provider’s status each visit, but I bet most people don’t do it. I certainly don’t.
Do you get your coverage through your employer? Then they should have notified you about the changes during open enrollment, you might have just missed it.
