Does anyone know how long it usually takes for a Colorado Medicaid application to be processed? I submitted mine a while ago and haven’t heard back yet. Any advice or tips would be appreciated!
If you need immediate assistance, consider visiting a Planned Parenthood or a local clinic. They often provide affordable rates and may even help same-day.

Thank you! I’ll give them a call and see what they can do.
@Jordan
That’s a great idea. Planned Parenthood uses a sliding scale, and acting quickly can save you from more costly treatment later on.
Here are a couple of resources:
Both offer free or low-cost medical services. They might be able to help while you wait for Medicaid approval.
If you call and are willing to wait on hold, you might be able to get a decision over the phone instead of waiting weeks. For online applications, it could take up to 45 days or more.
Visit your local community health center. They’re a great resource while waiting for Medicaid to process.
Unfortunately, with recent issues like data breaches, Medicaid offices are overwhelmed. Approval could take closer to 45 days or more. Make sure you have notifications on for any updates, as they might require a phone interview or additional documents.
In the meantime, Planned Parenthood can help with affordable or free services. Also, cranberry supplements, unsweetened cranberry juice, and vitamin C might help if it’s a UTI issue. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. I take cranberry supplements and drink lots of water already. I’ll add vitamin C to my routine too!

If you can, try 64 oz of 100% cranberry juice. It has worked for me in a pinch, but medical treatment is always better when possible.
Approval can take up to 90 days, and they look closely at your income. If you barely exceed the income limits, it can be disqualifying. Without Medicaid, it’s hard to get affordable care. Consider local clinics or sliding-scale programs.
@Kim
Check out costplusdrugs.com. It offers many medications at affordable prices without insurance.
I used GoodRx’s telehealth service when I needed quick care before my Medicaid was approved. It cost me $20, and they prescribed what I needed quickly. Medicaid approval took nearly three months for me.
Amazon’s teledoc service costs $9/month and covers some common conditions like UTIs. It’s quick and affordable while you wait for Medicaid.
If you need care now, go ahead and see a doctor. Medicaid often reimburses costs retroactively to your application date if approved.
When I moved back to Colorado, my Medicaid took almost four months to approve. It only got resolved after I contacted my local representative’s office. Be persistent and follow up regularly.
Did they set you up for a phone interview yet? When I applied, I got an interview notice within a day, and after the interview, I was approved the same day. Try calling to check on your application!
If you’re earning around $15/hour and working full-time, you might not qualify for Medicaid. The income limit is usually around $1,669/month. You might want to check other options if this applies to you.
@Vero
Eligibility isn’t just based on gross income; net pay and expenses also factor in. Exemption waivers could help in some cases too.
I had to call and escalate my case after waiting too long. Once I did, I got approved within an hour. Don’t be afraid to follow up persistently.
