Billing Issue Due to Doctor's Name Change - What to Do?

Hi guys…

I’m dealing with a frustrating situation involving my doctor who recently got married and changed her last name. She is still within my insurance network, but I’m now being billed as if she’s out of network due to her name change. I’ve done some digging and it looks like my doctor has already updated her name with my insurance. However, the bill in question is from before the name change was processed, which might be why it’s being flagged incorrectly.

I’m not sure what steps to take next. Can the bill be voided and resubmitted under her new name even though my insurance has already “closed” it? Both the billing office and the insurance customer support are pointing fingers and not offering a solution, which is leaving me stuck with a significant bill.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any advice on how to resolve this? I’d really appreciate any guidance on how to handle this situation.

Hi,
Contact your insurance provider and explain the doctor’s name change. Provide any documentation from the doctor or medical office confirming the update. Ensure the correct name is on future claims to avoid billing issues and delays.

Insurance billing requires the legal name associated with your insurance policy.
