I’m looking to buy health insurance for my parents. They’re currently on an ACA plan, but I want to get them something with better coverage and a larger network of specialists.
What are the best options in Southern California for premium health insurance? Price isn’t a concern—I just want them to have access to top specialists and hospitals.
I lived in SoCal for a while and always went with PPO plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield. With a PPO, you don’t need referrals from a primary care doctor to see a specialist, which saves time.
You can check Covered California to compare plans, but if you’re looking for the best coverage, private PPO plans might be worth looking into.
Kaiser is an HMO, right? How has it been going through a primary care doctor for everything? Do you feel like it slows down getting specialist referrals?
@Marley
Kaiser is great for basic care, but if your parents need a lot of specialty services, a PPO might be better. With Kaiser, you have to go through their system and get referrals, which can take time. If quick specialist access is a priority, PPOs usually offer more flexibility.
