I am a 25-year-old employee working for a self-employed person. Soon, I will become a co-owner and eventually the sole owner and worker of the business. My wife will work part-time after her maternity leave, but her job does not offer health insurance, and she probably wouldn’t qualify even if they did.
We are facing a problem, we need to find health insurance through the marketplace, but it is very expensive, and our income is just above the limit for ACA subsidies. I am looking for other options and heard that Medi-Share is cheaper than traditional insurance. Does anyone use them? I think they don’t cover routine and preventative care. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Medi-Share is cheaper but doesn’t cover routine care. Other options are Liberty HealthShare or CHM. You could also try a high-deductible plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA) for lower premiums and tax benefits. Compare options to see what fits best.
Similar to a deductible, the AHP is the amount that you agree to be responsible for before sharing starts. For instance, if you select a $3,000 AHP, your household will be responsible for a total of $3,000 of eligible medical bills before your bills are published for sharing by other members.
Hey, you can check out netWell Healthshare Elite+ plan. The plan is robust enough to cover routine checks and preventative care. I am not aware of the nitty gritty of the plans but I know there are three subscription levels at $2500, 5k, and 10k. And also, since I presume that you do not have any pre-existing conditions, then you wouldn’t be put on any waiting period
